Decided to check out a Japanese restaurant in Japantown, San Jose. It has been quite a long time since I have eaten in Japantown. We had tickets to the WAR concert at the San Jose Civic center so we decided to get some dinner right before the concert.
We initially wanted to eat at Gombei’s , but it was CASH Only and I did not have enough cash on me so down the street was a place called Kaita. It is a bit small, but there are plenty of tables. It was quiet not overly noisy. They have a variety of Main Courses, Combo plates Sushi and Sashimi. We ordered:
- Goyza – Appetizer – Comes with 6
- Nigiri Roll Combo plate- They let me substitute the California Roll with Spicy Tuna for $1
- Sushi Sashimi Combo
- Large Asahi Beer
The dishes came with soup and salad.
I really liked the Miso soup very much, Better than most Japanese restaurants. The salad was ok, I have had better and fresher. The sushi and sashimi were excellent and very fresh! The sushi had the right amount of rice. Some places try to make the sushi with to much rice, but they did it perfect….
The service was very good, they had low sodium soy sauce and we asked for Hot sauce and they brought a bit of sriracha. I like eating the Gyoza with hot sauce! The staff was nice and attentive.
A place definately worth visiting for Sushi and Sashimi that is more traditional.
